The Noel Foundation Support for the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS), Monterey Institute of International StudiesDuring the past decade Stonepine frequently has been the venue for gatherings of nonproliferation specialists and experts in international peace and security. It is a regular meeting place of the International Advisory Board of the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies and the Monterey Nonproliferation Strategy Group. Recent meetings of these organizations occurred in December 2006 and June 2007, respectively.The tranquil environment at Stonepine has provided an ideal setting in which senior diplomats and experts from around the world convene to explore creative but practical solutions to pressing proliferation challenges. Past participants at these functions include Senator Sam Nunn, UN Under Secretary General for Disamament Affairs Jayantha Dhanapala, Canadian Ambassador Paul Meyer, German Ambassador Rudiger Ludeking, U.S. Chief Arms Control Negotiatior Linton Brooks, Egyptian Ambassador Nabil Fahmy, and Congressman Sam Farr. |
The Mission of CNSCNS strives to combat the spread of weapons of mass destruction (WMD)
by training the next generation of nonproliferation specialists and disseminating timely information and analysis.
